New J24 Genoa
The International J24 Class Association World Council recently voted to allow aramid genoas. The proposed change to the class rules was subsequently voted on by the National J24 Class Associations and approved by a vote of 17 to 5. The rule change will be submitted to ISAF and will likely be in effect by March 1, 2009. If all goes as expected, aramid genoas will be legal in time for our 2009 sailing season.
Considering aramid fibers' much higher modulus, it's expected that aramid genoas will outperform and outlast Pentex genoas. Although aramid fiber is more expensive, the new genoas may prove to be more economical if they last longer than Pentex genoas. Contact us for new J24 genoa prices.
